The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson took the time to visit Mai Chimenya who
was the inspiration in the first place in starting MADE.
She is 89 years old and was also affected by the floods. Her house has holes
that leak in the roof and her toilet and kitchen area, both damaged by the floods,
would make you cry.
Inspite of all that she is cheerful and happy to show you round and invite you into
Steps are underway to find the right builders and carpenters to rebuild her toilet
and kitchen area and also a woman to help look after her on a daily basis,
cooking, washing and cleaning for her. The idea is to turn her home into a refuge
and meeting centre for the elderly in the area.
This project will also be chaired at our next meeting.
Bank Accounts – MADE is fully functioning and has bank accounts in four
currencies: Malawi Kwacha, US Dollar, Pound Sterling and Euro. Please may all
Trust members ensure that they pay their monthly contributions on time as it will
help us plan better.
Website news- Our Website, which is being developed by Masia Walita of Great
Ideas is still not quite complete. Some technical difficulties are being
experienced with regards to hosting the website and being able to open it.
Donation – The Vice Chairperson kindly donated a printer, office supplies such
as envelopes, printing paper, stapler and staples, hole punch, scissors, post it
notes and a sewing machine for the purposes of MADE. We thank him for his
kindness and generosity in making this donation.
Old Clothes and shoes – We kindly ask our current Trust Members to rummage
through theirs or their children’s cupboards for any old clothes, shoes, bedding,
towels, toys etc, that they can donate to MADE. Please also ask all your friends
and spread the word. Recruiting more members to our cause will help us make
more of an impact and a difference to those around us who need it most!
Congratulations – To our Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, who recently got
engaged on 7th March. Wishing them both all the best in the future!
